| Mandatory info - Renewal of the residence permit For renewal of the residence permit, you have to present the following documents: Application form, filled and signed by the student (form 1 - Modulo 1) Certificate from the school, stating the course of study you are enrolled in (for BA students, the certificate must stat that you passed at least 1 exam, for the first year, and 2 more exams for every year of studying), to be requested at NABA Segreteria office. A photocopy of documentation attesting the availability of adequate funding for the whole duration of your staying (ex. bank statement), approximately 500 Euros per month. A photocopy of the old permit to stay to be renewed. Photocopy of insurance policy, valid throughout the country and for the entire period of validity of the residence permit against the risk of illness and injury (IMPORTANT: if you have only an insurance covering the first period of your staying, we suggest you to make the "INA Assitalia" insurance. At the moment of presenting your "documentation package", you will also have to present an identity document valid at the time of submission of the application (it may be your passport or e.g. ID card) for the purpose of identification by Post Office workers, as well as an A4-size photocopy of the document itself (for the passport, photocopy only the main pages with the photo). Some Post Offices allow applicants to take photocopies there, but we suggest you to make a copy before getting to the Post Office, just in case you are not lucky J. Once identification of the applicant and checking of the required documentation have been completed, a registered letter receipt (mod.22A) is issued which lists the user ID and password needed to check the state of progress of the application on the Internet (www.portaleimmigrazione.it, enter the "Area Riservata Stranieri"). This receipt will substitute your permit to stay until when you will get the original of it, so keep it carefully and in a safe place, and bring always with you a copy of it. The receipt allows you to circulate within Italy, and should allow you as well to go back home in certain periods of the year (you will have to double-check with the Immigration Offices, see "Police Stations on point 4. of your students’ guide), but without crossing other Schengen countries. HOW TO FILL OUT THE FORMS: Write in block letters, using a black pen, making sure that you stay well inside the spaces provided. Every time you have to tick an option, use "X". Applications cannot be examined unless signed by the applicant. Upon presentation of the application, the foreigner must be verified through examination of a passport. Applications must be presented in an open envelope, and the postal worker will provide a registered letter to be filled put by the applicant. The International Relations Office will provide detailed information on how to fill in for each point, upon arrival. |
