Faq - What is NABA?

NABA is a non-state Institute, which is legally recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). NABA awards students with the Bachelor of Arts Honours (three-year course). The diplomas awarded are valid in all European Countries and in all Countries outside Europe that have a bilateral agreement with Italy on recognition of academic qualifications.

Why is NABA a unique institution in Milan?

As a private institution it has a limited number of students and is capable of fast modification according to the changes in the art and design field. At the same time, being fully recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, NABA issues B.A. degrees legally recognised all over the world. Although there are many private institutions in Italy, NABA was the first, and still the only one recognised by the Ministry of Education, offering a complete range of educational programs in fine arts and design (fashion, graphic, product and interior, media, theatre). Most institutions focus only on one single group of programs (traditional or contemporary).

What does the recognition issued by the Italian Ministry of Education mean?

It means that NABA has to fulfil certain requirements requested by the Ministry like the quality of teaching and hours of classes (both practical and theoretical). Other private Italian institutions non recognized by the Ministry of Education don’t need to fulfil them.

Is NABA an international academy?

NABA has always been aware of the meaning and opportunities of having an "international" dimension and it is part of the European and international networks ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts) and ICFAD (International Council of Fine Arts Deans), which comprise over 800 Universities of Art and Design across the world. This was a spontaneous step, a natural consequence of the innovative project which originally formed NABA, of an avant-garde teaching staff, of the interdisciplinary approach between the Schools on an international level, and of how they are considered by our international partners.

With the Socrates/Erasmus projects, the experience of 3, 6 or 9 months of study abroad becomes a real opportunity for detailed study and specialization, as well as undoubtedly being a chance to enrich one's personal curriculum vitae and increase one's horizons in terms of work.
